Beauty of Jharkhand state

This post is dedicated to all my blog viewers and those people who are belong from Jharkhand but they are living outside due to their job, studies, etc. Basically, I am from Jharkhand that's why I want to share some small information about Jharkhand. People of India who are living in southern part and western part who doesn't belong from Jharkhand , they don't know about our state and at the present they also don't know about that Jharkhand is in 28th position in the state list. They only know about "RANCHI" which is the capital of Jharkhand because our Mahendra Singh Dhoni belong from Ranchi but they don't know RANCHI comes under the Jharkhand state. Jharkhand is a huge topic to write. If we sit to write about Jharkhand, we can write whole book on it. I will tell you some small important facts about Jharkhand in my post.
Jharkhand State
Jharkhand is celebrated 17 years of its establishment on 15 November recently. Same day, Jharkhand was established on 15 November, 2000 under the act of Bihar State Reorganization Act, 2000. It was carved from the southern part of Bihar. Have you ever wondered how Jharkhand was named? Do you really know what is the meaning of Jharkhand? Many people knows already about what is the meaning of Jharkhand and why Jharkhand was named. But, some people really don't about this small information. Now , I am going to tell you all. Jharkhand is made up of two words i.e. "Jhar" which means Jungle or Forest and "Khand" which means the piece of land. The name of Jharkhand kept due to abundance of forests.At present, the area of forest land in Jharkhand is 22,977 sq. km(in % it is 29.1% approx). The spatial position of Jharkhand is in North - east part of India.  The shape of land is Quadrilateral. Its logo have Ashok signs between four "J" letters. Jharkhand shares its boundaries with Bihar in North, Orissa in South, West Bengal in East, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in West. Before establishment Jharkhand had 18 states but after establish of Jharkhand state 6 new states are added in the list i.e. Saraikela - Kharsawan, Latehar, Jamtara, Simdega, Khunti or Ramgarh. "Ranchi" is the capital of Jharkhand and sub - capital of Jharkhand is Dumka.

Generally, most of the people don't know the oldest name of Jharkhand which was written already at the time of Mughal period. It is also very interesting to know about some small history about Jharkhand that what we called our Jharkhand state in Vishnu puran, vayu puran, etc. The word Jharkhand was first mentioned in the 13th centrury. The earliest mention of this is in the Atreya Brahmin in the name of Munda. In the North vedic period, Jharkhand region was known as Vraty Pradesh. It has been addressed to Kikkat Pradesh in Bhagwat Puran and addressed by Murand in Vayu Puran. Jharkhand is referred to as Munda in Vishnu Puran and it was also known as Khukhra or kukra during the Mughal Period.

Britishers entered in Jharkhand and started to ruled. The britishers used to borrow money from the landlords and landlords used to charge poor farmers in the name of tax. By the time, britishers used to raised their taxes then the landlords also raised their money rate and used to distrubed of tribal people for money. That's why Jharkhand revolt was done by freedom fighters of Jharkhand. I know many of us already know who were Tilka Manjhi, Sindhu - Kanhu, Birsa Munda, Jaipal Singh Munda, Bhukan Singh, Bhagirath Manjhi, etc. Specially, those who belong from Jharkhand, they already know them. But those who who is not from Jharkhand, for them I am going to tell you all who they are? They are freedom fighters of our Jharkhand who fought against these britishers and landlords. The first ever revolt against landlords and british government led by Tilka Manjhi in1771. He was very furious leader of santhal. Yes, it's vast to know about our Jharkhand but I am trying my best to give you small information of it. 
Sindhu - Kanhu was a legendary heroes of Santhal tribals who fought against the oppressive rule of the british government. Another hero of Santhal tribal was Brisa Munda who died for his motherland at the age of 25 years. At Present, we called him as a Dharti Aaba. Tribal people worshiped him. Jaipal Singh Munda was a leader of tribal people. They called him as a Marang Gomke which means leader. He captained the Indian Hockey Team to clinch Gold medal in 1928 summer olympics in Amsterdam.

Interesting facts about Jharkhand - 
  • The language by tribes in the state of Jharkhand is identical to the used by Harrapan(Indus Valley Civilization) people.
  • Parasnath hill at 1366m is the highest point of the state Jharkhand. On the top of mountain there is a Shikarji Jain temple.
  • Steel city of Jamshedpur is known as Pittsburg of India.

Sal tree

  •  Our state tree is Sal Tree is also known as Sakhua in Jharkhand. It is linked to many religions of India and worshipped by many tribes of Jharkhand. It has many use both commercial and medicinal.

Palash flower

  • Palash flower is the state flower of Jharkhand. It has many names like Dhak, Tesu, Polas, Murdba, etc. It is associated with flok tradition in Jharkhand. Many flok expressions describe Palash as the forest fire. The beauty of dry deciduous forests of Jharkhand reach their height when most of the trees have fallen their leaves and Palash is in its full bloom.
  • The sate animal of Jharkhand is Elephant and the state bird is Koyel.
  • Jharkahnd has immense mineral resources like Coal, Ore, Copper ore, Mica, Bauxite, Uranim, Graphite, etc.
  • Damodar river, a tributary of Ganga is the longest river of Jharkhand. It is also known as sorrow river of  West bengal because of its habit of changing his flow frequently which used to bring suffering to Bengal people.
  • Bokaro Steel City is the larget steel plant in India and one of the first planned town of India.
  • Most of the Jharkhand is located on elevated Chotanagpur Plateau which is the reason for state's pleasant climate throughout the year.
  • Ranchi is situated at a height of 651m and served as a hill station during the British time.
  • Deoghar is the ancient city of Jharkhand know for its temple.
  • Famous person who is related to Jharkhand are Arjun Munda, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Meenakshi Sheshadari, Priyanka Chopra, Tanushree dutta, etc.
